Apple Pie

Ingredients:
10 medium sized Fuji apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
1 batch vodka crust
1 egg white pinch of salt white sugar, for sprinkling



  1. Peel the apples and slice about 1/4-inch thick. Put in a large pot and add the sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon and butter. Let the apple mixture sit for about 20 to 30 minutes to allow the liquid from thb appiato come out. Cook over medium heat until thick, about 15 minutes, then cool.
  2. Remove the vodka dough from the refrigerator. Roll out half of the dough for the bottom crust and fit into a 9-inch pie pan. Fill with apple mixture.
  3. Roll out the other half and place over the apples, allowing about 1/2-inch overhang so that the crust can be tucked in and crimped. ,
  4. Using a fork, beat the egg white with salt, just to break it up so it's easier to brush on the pie.
  5. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of the pie and sprinkle sugar on top. Bake in a preheated 450°F oven for 20 minutes until the crust colors. Lower the heat to 375°F and continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes more until golden brown.
