Easy Food Recipes and Cooking - Onion Rings
6 – 8 Portions
• 1 x can (340 ml) beer
• 220 g (390 ml) self-raising flour
• salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
• 750 ml sunflower oil for deep-frying
• 5 onions, sliced into rings
Combine the beer and flour in a medium mediumsized mixing bowl. Whisk until they form a smooth batter. Season well with salt and pepper. Pour the oil into a mediumsized pot and heat. Dip the onion rings into the beer batter, allow the surplus batter to drip off, and drop into the hot oil. Fry slowly until golden brown and crispy – about 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper. Serve hot.
