4 Portions
• 30 ml olive oil
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 5 slices white bread, crusts removed
• 600 g pork sausages
• 15 ml parsley, finely chopped
• 1 egg, beaten
• salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Heat half the olive oil in a pan. Sauté the onion until soft and translucent – around 2 – 3 minutes. Put the bread in a food processor and process to fine crumbs. Remove the meat from the sausages and discard the skins. Thoroughly mix all the remaining ingredients (except the olive oil) and season with salt and pepper. Dampen your hands and form 4 large burgers with the meat mixture. Heat the rest of the olive oil in a pan and fry the burgers on both sides until cooked – it will take about 15 minutes. Serve with pita breads, tzatziki and hummus, all of which can be bought at a supermarket.
