Ingredients
36 small slices of loaf white bread
130g cooked ham
5 slices semi-mature cheese
100g Gruyere grated
10g butter
1 tablespoon flour
Pepper
125ml milk
Method
In a large baking tray, lined with oven paper, place 18 slices of bread. In each slice put a folded slice of ham and some cheese. Top with the remaining 18 slices of bread. In a sauce pan, melt the butter over medium heat, whisk in the flour. Add gradually the milk in a thin stream, whisking constantly until creamy. Season with pepper. Spread the béchamel over the top of the bread slices, sprinkle each of them with Gruyere and bake at 200ºC for 5/7 minutes, and a few minutes on the grill.
